2. Submission for Papers and Abstracts

Background

PNSQC paper reviewers have high standards. It is, after all, a quality conference.

The PNSQC Proceedings is a peer-reviewed publication. Initial selection by the Program Committee does not guarantee acceptance for inclusion in the conference. Papers are accepted provisionally and are subject to the referee/peer-review process during June and July. Decisions of the Program Committee are final.

Each accepted paper will be assigned a Primary Reviewer and one or more other reviewers. The Primary Reviewer is responsible for coordinating communication between the author(s) and other PNSQC members and for ensuring that sufficient progress is made on the paper.

The draft is expected to be technically sound and grammatically correct. We recommend that, prior to the June 20 draft due date, the paper be proofread and reviewed for technical content. During the subsequent ten weeks - until mid-August - authors and assigned reviewers/referees will collaborate to improve the quality of the paper (refining content, removing ambiguities, etc.).

Paper/Abstract Guidelines

Abstracts are limited to 5000 characters. Abstracts are submitted via the conference management tool provided by Microsoft (https://cmt.research.microsoft.com/PNSQC2008/Default.aspx).  If you are a new user, you will need to enter an email address and create a password.  The tool will then prompt you for all required submission information.

Note: We are video recording presentations this year. You may opt out of this for whatever reason.

Papers should address address collaboration and/or quality consistent with the PNSQC mission of enabling information exchange for higher quality software.

All papers will be refereed. Authors will present their papers at the conference and the papers will be published in the conference proceedings.

Papers can be about products, processes, or people; introductory, intermediate, or advanced; case studies, research results, or thought experiments; practical or theoretical; technical or humanistic; etc.

For each paper, one person (the presenter) receives complimentary admission to the two-day technical program at the conference.

Each author must sign and submit the Legal Release form.

PNSQC referees/reviewers expectations

Correct punctuation, spelling, and grammar (e.g.; word sequencing, verb tense, and sentence and paragraph structure).

Customary style for technical writing - title page with author names, titles, affiliations, biographies, short abstract; introduction; labeled sections, figures, charts, and graphs; summary/supported conclusions; references.

References to companies, including the author’s own company or employer are encouraged but blatant commercialism is unacceptable.

Definitions or explanations of uncommon technical terms and expressions.

Acronyms spelled out upon first use.

Logical development & presentation of the author’s contribution to the subject

Conclusions and claims are supported by data, and the chain of reasoning by which the conclusion was reached is clearly presented.

Appropriate research and references to earlier works.

If the Program Committee determines that basic writing errors are not likely to be remedied, the author(s) will be encouraged to withdraw the paper.

Conference Proceedings are published in two versions - Book format and Adobe® Acrobat® PDF. The hard-copy book is distributed to attendees during on-site check-in. The PDF version will be available on the PNSQC web site.<
